Ice Ice Baby
I should make a day trip to Houston. I did. I could not wake up in time to attend the Texans game. It was nice and rainy therefore it took me a little longer to get into town. I still got there in 2 hrs and 20 minutes toward downtown Houston though. Hmm.
I soon met up with my long time close friend of seven years, Luke, to eat Fung’s Dim Sum. I was not really in the mood to eat dim sum, but Luke was. I have to admit that his place at Bel-Air Apartments off Allen Pkwy is nice.
Went to the galleria for a little shopping and some ice skating fun! The last time I went ice skating was back in middle school. We were both so nervous and newbies at the ring. After an hour or so, we got the hang of it. In conclusion, I cannot skate backwards nor can I spin. Ice skating truly wears you out because I was sweating a lot towards the end!
Dinner was at Miyako with the gals and Luke. Christine could not make it so I have to visit her next time I make a trip. Katherine and I caught up and Cindy was a pleasure to see again! Miyako had a really cute turtle pond in the front host area.
All in all, the trip was great. The drive on the other hand is a different story. Midway, I stopped for a break for some double-shot canned espresso. Any other flavored canned Starbucks is nasty. Even though there is an aluminum taste to it, it is better than nothing at 11:00pm.
In Bastrop, I was lucky enough to have an encounter with a nice State Trooper. I know my radar works! He just happens to turn on his laser right when I was coming down the hill and clock me 10 miles over. I am almost home and now here I am bound to get a speeding ticket. Nope! He gave me a quick smile and told me to slow down and sent me off with a warning.
What a day!
