New York bounded. Took the Bally's Bus toward Chinatown.
First Stop: Joe'sShanghai for my lunch/dinner. Their soup dumplings...... are a must! Snacks: Cafe Sambuca for my cognac pumpkin cheesecake and latte. Then off to Snacky's for my Red Velvet. I cut my cupcake in half adn eat it like a tiny sandwich. It makes the whole ratio of cake and icing better! Drinks: Yello is the one bar that I always end up at every time I venture up to the city, From my lychee drinks, playing dice, chai mui and singing my heart out, I am always at home here. Taxi: It is never too hard to get a taxi to come your way. I love how their is a touch screen in the back seat for my entertainment.Recap: It's nice to see my best friend and all familiar faces again.
During our Phillie walk around Chinatown, I was able to get to know my Uncle Loi and his daughter Sophie Nhu. Nhu is the sweetest little girl and a neat freak. I am very happy to see my Uncle be so complete.
Borgata's Club, Mur Mur does Mur Mur Mondays. Some of my gals came out and we had a blast of dancing the night away!
Airport: Left at 5:15am. Morning coffee and breakfast at Austin java in ABIA with a good friend. (We both had to fly out) Southwest Airlines always give great customer service!! At Houston Airport, I had to get some latte from Peet's Coffee & Tea.
Random: I like the sign I saw while enjoying my 2 hour layover.
Philidelphia: Landed. Not much sight seeing here because I had to meet up the gals to eat my late lunch/dinner. Wendy's daughter, Breanna, can never get my name right. Amy is close enough. That girl can work an iPhone better than most people I know! Huong's daughter, Kim Ngan (gray), is so smart and dieu! I love them both! We always eat at Nam Phuong , their family package is always a good deal! Bo Luc Lac here with watercrest has been and will be my favorite here.
Family: My cousin, Rosita, has the cutest baby girl, Emmabelle. I still can not believe she's expecting her baby boy in December!
Recap: It has been a little over a year and a half since I have been back up here. I enjoy seeing my family and friends here. Off to bed early to hit the boardwalk for my jog! <3 the ocean!
Lunch: Together This place is a little restaurant that serves good Korean food! Their seafood pancake is good compared to other places I have been. I admit that I had wrote this place off when Jeni mentioned it. I am glad that she made me realize this place is awesome! Please note, they do not close till 2am, even better! Lunch was a nice trio with Jeni and Ricky. Liz missed out on some tummy yummy!
Dinner: NorthFirst time trying this place. Got the pork tenderloin and flank steak. It was raining outside and they had the placed opened. Too bad there was no breeze and made the restaurant humid. If I have to glisten while I eat, of course I can not enjoy my food. I gave the place 3 out of 5 stars overall. The food could be better. Jeni told me their pasta is good, so I have to give that place another try. Desserts: HalyconHow can I not end my night sweetly? Thi and I went to go grab some good lattes and s'mores after dinner. Jeni met us up after she attended Gary Vaynerchuk'sbook signing. Recap: This rainy day was accompanied by some food, desserts and good friends. I am not complaining at all.
Work: The usual day at the liquor store. If you follow me Lawnee then you'll find out how bored I got when I find a cowboy hat and sit in front of a camera.
Errand: The Great Outdooes Nursery Took my mother to go buy some orchids here. I always enjoy seeing different unique plants they bring in (we buy a lot of them) and how they decorate it around statues of Buddha. There was a Thailand Super Size Elephant Ear that I had to take a picture with just to show how big the leaf was. Break: Went to Fair Bean Coffee for my usual Tortilla Espanol Italian Sausage with Fresh Red to drink. Did some work and read. Chilled there for a while before the concert. Concert: The Parish Room Went to see Amongst the Oaks & Ashes, A Fine Frenzy and Landon Pigg perform. They were awesome! Event Landon played a new song and his Coffee Shop with A Dress to Kill. A Fine Frenzy rocked it! She ended her night with Almost Lover which I thought was the best song through out the whole night. This event is their first event to kick off their fall tour. Please note that the pictures from the concert is from Jeni. Found out that I had experience claustrophobia where I had experienced some of the symptoms. Boo! Never had I experienced that before and I have been to many events where space is tight. I just needed to get some fresh air and not stand too close to the stage. I like standing close to the stage. :) After the concert, I somehow found myself at Lucky Lounge watching Boombox perform on their regular Tuesdays. I had a blast hanging out with Oscar and Breanne!
Recap: This Tuesday was jammed packed! Work, errands, friends, concerts and drinking. Washed my car thinking it will rain on Wednesday. Nope! I needed the car wash anyways, it was glittered with bugs from my drive this past weekend. Went to two concerts and enjoyed both! I went with great friends and had a blast. I learned this time aroung that concerts always do well with Blue Moon. :)
Morning: The gals, Cindy, Katherine, Luke and I had brunch at Le Peep . The place was good! I had ordered the Southern Benedict and was not disappointed.
Snack: I then left my midtown crew to meet up with Christine. We had The Yogurt Spot which hit the spot after being disappointed yesterday. As always you can never see my yogurt after I was done with my toppings. The place happen to have the game on. Football and frozen yogurt together in one room makes me a one happy gal!
Asians: We went to go shopping around Chinatown and I happen to see a guy push a kid around the plaza like nothing. I would never see this in my HEB.
Recap: I had a great Sunday hanging out with my best friend Christine. I have not been able to hang out with her much at all therefore it was very nice of her to take the day off. I had visited her parents. Her mom is soooo cute! I finally saw her dogs and they were too adorable. We had forgot to take a picture together for memories, next time!
I am thankful for my great coffee today for accompanying me on my trip back to Austin. Oh how I really needed you!
Music: I happen to really be stuck on A Fine Frenzy ever since I found out she's playing at the The Parish this week. I had missed out on seeing her play during 2009 SXSW .
Football: Started the day watching Texas beat the Sooners. We watched the game at Christian's Tail Gate Bar. The game overall could have been better but we won on this low scoring game. Met up with my good friends and met some new ones.
Snack: Katherine and I went to Sweet Lola for some frozen yogurt. It was not the best and had a small selection. The toppings I give a fat zero for no sprinkles and mochi balls. They do get a point for those chocolate balls. They remind me of Sixlets but with a thicker shell.
Gal Time: Katherine and I chilled with some martini at her place. It is always nice to catch up and spend some gal pal time.
Wedding: I went as Luke's date to a wedding. The wedding was an asian wedding but with a modern twist to it. It was beautiful. Met a lot of old and new faces.
After Party: Met up with my gals at Belvedere for some drinks. The place looked nice and the feel was ok. Music could be better and the place was not that packed as we had hoped for.
Recap: I was designated driver and thank goodness for google and Map App on my iPhone. My friend was so drunk where he lead me in circles around Houston to every desination we had to go to. Overall, I had a great time hanging with my friends and spending a weekend away from work! UT won!
Morning: Coffee and food from Fair Bean Coffee. If you are a big fan of potatoes, eggs, cheese and sausages, you'll like their Tortilla Espanol
Snacks: First time ever have I seen and ate Kiwiberries and I like them a lot!
Field Trips: Curly and MiMi
Recap: I got off from work early. It was not as busy this Friday due to the Texas OU game in Dallas. Dallas is making their sales right now. Since I had the evening off, I took off to Houston a day earlier than planned. In Giddings, I got stopped by the train. I have not been stopped by the train in a long time so it was nice to have a different view of things. Rather than looking around at a stop light, I enjoy trying to count all the boxcar. I do not know how many because I lost count taking the picture.
I ended up going to Pearland to visit my friend Alex to catch up before he moves to New Jersey after his rotation. We met and watched Zombieland 1, Pearland is far out in the boonies and 2, the movies was funny yet gruesome in the beginning. I miss my Alex, really glad that I was able to catch up with him. Friends are awesome. Amen.
Morning: I went jogging as my morning activity. It felt great to be outside.Lightly drizzling, the weather seemed to be uplifting to egg me on in continuing to run. I like my running gear. I work out with Nike Triax C3 Hear Rate Watch with Chest Strap.I have been debating if I wanted to buy a new running watch but this one has not been broken to be buying a sportier one.
Lunch: Homeslice http://www.homeslicepizza.com/ I had my monthly lunch with my brother Quang. He never had the pizza here before so it was a perfect place to go! The venue is great! You have the choice to walk up and order at the window or sit inside.Service is always great there but the food is good! We had a medium pizza with sausage, mushrooms, basils and garlic. We ate all except for two slices.
My Sweet Leaf Teahttp://www.sweetleaftea.com/ had a cute saying underneath the cap.I had to share the funny message of what we all have once done before.
SoCo: We walked to the shops and boutiques on South Congress just to feel better after what we had done to our tummy.Saw some unique items and fun stuff. As we were walking toward the Lucy In Disguise With Diamonds http://www.lucyindisguise.com/home.html , we saw a “free” fax machine.I thought the note on the machine was kind of funny. Quang and I looked at some costumes and accessories to gather up some ideas for Halloween this year. I bought a wig. We also went to Uncommon Objectshttp://www.uncommonobjects.com/where they had some dolls and salt n’ pepper shakers that caught my eyes.Other items that caught my eyes happen to be a bit disturbing. They where the doll heads in glass containers. They had some other antique items that I thought were pretty cool; one was the 7up “the uncola” upside down glass.A lot of things there reminded Quang and I of San Angelo and our childhood memories.
Monday Night Shows: I got suckered to sit on the couch doing laundry watching all my favorite shows. The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, House, Heroes and Monday Night Football.I have to admit that the Dolphins and the Jets played a good game.I was able to squeeze a load of laundry in.Now I got tons of clothes to wear for working out! I find myself showing twice a day now ever since I am more active now.
Recap:I did not do yoga today.I really need to do some laundry and clean up the place a bit for the week. I was able to catch up with some friends and family on the phone.I still need to get a dress for this weekend.Tomorrow is a full shift therefore it will be my break day before my good workout on Wednesday.
I really like the wig I bought.I had tried a lot and the one I chose came out great! Glam gal here I come! Now I just need to find the right dress and shoes.
Music: I've been listening to some Rilo Kiley lately. Reminds me of Houston back in the day.
I did not go to bed till 5am from hanging out with friends and family. Did the downtown ventures and met back at the house for birthday bar-b-ques. It is nice to hang out with my sister everyonce in a while. The fact that I had gone to bed late, I naturally did not roll out of bed till close to one pm.
I had wasted my day sleeping.
Lunch: Lobster with greens.
Sunday Football: Watched Dallas Cowboys beat Kansas City with my father. He is starting to talk to me more now that I understand the game.
Yoga: I did my sixth session of yoga at Black Swan Yoga. Hatha was fun and it had nice stretches. Class was taught by Lauren. http://www.blackswanyoga.com/bios.html She was really fun and made us laugh a lot. I can tell that she took classes from Keith because his style of teachings was shown through hers. (Dharma Yoga) Class today was dedicated to myself again. I feel that this class was nice to end my week. It was not too hard nor was it easy. We had practiced basic Sivananda Asanas. It was my first time and it was challenging for the headstand part. Maybe not this time but hopefully next time I can do it all on my own. I can onyl lift up my leg into a straight headstand with a partner supporting my hip. More information on basic Sivananda Asanas: http://www.citypaper.com/digest.asp?id=16221 and http://www.sivanandayoga.co.nz/
Dinner: My classic version of Hamburger Helper. I was craving some good hearty boxed dinner. Made it with Extra Lean 96/4 ground meat. It was yummy! I am so use of cooking anything for a party of at least 2-4, therefore I have extra for lunch/dinner tomorrow.
Recap: My day was relaxing for a nice rainy day. Did not do much but feel energetic. I am hoping to get a jog in at least tomorrow if I can. I really need to lose some weight and tone up that body! Overall, I have been spending a lot more one-on-one time with my good friends to catch up.
