Day 13 Roaming to Eat

No power today. I happen to visit when the city shuts off our power to sell it to others. Our power is shut off from 6 am to 6 pm. We do experience 2-3 power outages in the middle of the evening which last about 20 minutes max.

It looks romantic but it sucks to be doing almost everything with a candle light.

While the power is out, I roam about the villa. I noticed upstairs an old suitcase. Back in the early eighties, my father bought that suitcase to travel with. Here it is. Wow.

I love my rechargeable fan. It last up to 5 hours on low and high setting. Took my cousin's niece out to the city's shopping center. They sell a lot of handmade trinkets.

Their mini "Wal-Mart" concept carries a wide varieties. From bobble head asian figures to the drinking horse game. Fruits and vegetables here are displayed nicely.

The highlight of my day is Banh Xeo. They make it half the size of the regular size. These mini banh xeos are cooked to crispy yummyness. They serve it with greens and non-dipped rice paper. The sauce wets the rice paper where all you taste is crunchiness goodies.

We later had ice cream with flavors ranging from durian and green beans to milk flavor.

Later on the night, I had decided to take some of my aunts out to the club. Married women here rarely goes out (culture wise). We tried out a local bar 'club' scene. The music is ok. Nice thing here is they always refill my cup of iced beer after every sip (annoying) and they have available fruit dishes. To tell the truth, compared to other around the area, there is no dance floor and the place is cramped compared to others. They will not see me here again.

Day 11 HCMC shopping

Driving out to the city, Saigon, to get my rechargeable fan when we experience power outages.

KFC is huge out here. They are everywhere.

I love seeing old school barbers set up shop anywhere.

Roaming around the city, I was able to find a nice bakery to satisfy my cheesecake cravings.

Where I had purchased my rechargeable fan is at a fry's concept store.

In my opinion, street vendors are the best when it comes to food.

Cops on bikes rides in pair.

Bo Nuong Hai Dan was where dinner is served. They make really good thin sliced beef skewers and bo la lup. It's a certain prepared meat that is grilled in a particular leaf served with a lot of greens.

I love the exchange rate calculation app. Makes life here a bit easier on me.

Old school squatting toilet. In order to flush, you spray or pour water in it. How I do not miss them.
